Woke up and got packed for Austria. Only the bare essentials, one pack together. The rest goes in a locker. Geoff does´t cre for my singing. Peacefully riding along on the train until Geoff and I get taken out of our cabin for a luggage search by the customes police. Geoff flew through Amsterdam on the way in and they looked a little worried. " you go to coffee house?" "no" "you have forbiddens?" "no" Seriously we don`t have the hash they are looking for and are sent back to our compartment and back to singing.
The ride over the mountains into Austria is beautiful, mountains, lakes, and quaint cottages. Got a hotel and off to Augustiner. What do you mean they don`t open until 2:30. Okay off to this old dark smokey beer hall with antlers on the walls and ceiling. What do you mean closed on Sun. This getting crazy. There is this brewery, they make their own weisse beer. Sounds good. What do you closed. COME ON! We want beer and need food. Finally aplace to eat drink and rest our feet.
Head up the hill to an old fortress above the city. This fotress was huge. I can see why it was never conquered. Great views from up there.
Back down the hill and off to the hotel for a quick rest. We`ve been going all day. Then off to Augustiner, that`s right for the second time. This time they are open. We are happy for that too. This is probably the best beerhall we have been to yet. You grab a stein from the shelf rinse it from the old well tap and take it to the tender who pours you a beer straight from the barrel. Just amazing martzen. Dinner once again was a cafeteria style. Hey no roasted pork for us tonight. I`m not sure I could do it again, even if it was really good. After a big bock beer we decide to call it a night and head back.
so long, farewell, auf weiderzaine tonight. sp?
